Using Bluetooth Speakers with UltraMixer

Today I’ll explain to you how to connect a Bluetooth speaker or Bluetooth headset to your PC and then set the audio out in UltraMixer. For this explanation I’ll use my own speaker, the Bose SoundLink Mini II, but no worries you can adapt this to all other Bluetooth devices.

Connecting Bose SoundLink Mini II to Your Computer

First, your Soundlink Mini II needs to be connected to your computer. In order to find the device in a newly connected PC, you must be in pairing mode. In my case this is accomplished by pressing the Bluetooth sign on the box. For your device this might work differently so you should check the manual.
Once done, we will proceed to the other half, the settings on the laptop / PC.

NOTEBose soundlink mini software update

If your device is not in pairing mode, it will probably not be found in the following steps on the PC

I forgot who asked about it, but I do have more info on the Bose Soundlink firmware.
There is a new firmware release (probably a month ago now, actually) at
You need to click on the link 'continue to software update'.
Unfortunately, unless you have Jaws convenient OCR, that is the end of the good news.

Even with Jaws OCR, the installation wasn't particularly easy for me. None of the boxes except the license agreement box are visible. The basic procedure is as follows:
1. Download and run the Bose Bluetooth Speaker executable file. The speaker needs to be disconnected at this point.
2. When the file opens, the first thing you need to do is select a language. It took me several tries to click on English using the Jaws Convenient OCR.
3. Next, there is a license agreement checkbox, you can hit space bar to turn it on. Then, I tabbed once and re-did the OCR and apparently found the okay button.
Update

4. I think at this point there is another dialog about the steps you need to perform. Basically, it says to install the device driver on the computer and then you connect the speaker.

5. I hit the next button, and after a couple of times, I saw wording indicating the driver was successfully installed. At this point, I connected the speaker. I was then instructed to hold the AUX button down for at least ten seconds.

6. The computer did the normal ascending and descending tones indicating it recognized the Usb device.

7. I periodically did more convenient OCR-ing and was given periodic graphical progress updates. Eventually, there was a Finish button which I had to again use OCR on and the Bose updater closed.

A couple notes here:

The speaker uses a Micro-Usb connector, not the mini-Usb connector as I had thought. Bose implies these are commonly used on cameras and GPS receivers, but my GPS receivers use the mini size. I did fortunately have one, they are used on the Nokia cellphones and probably others. So, that is the USB connector you need.

Finally, I should have mentioned this at the outset, but there is a separate download for the Mac if you are a Mac user. I'd be interested if you Mac users have any luck running their installation file. I'm certainly going to call Bose tomorrow morning and B***H about the total inaccessibility of their updater software.

Since it seems according to some posts I've read that it fixes some bluetooth connectivity issues, I couldn't wait to install it. But, a pair of eyeballs would have made an hour's job about three minutes total, lol. Live and learn!

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
